Event Details

In 2016, Orange Frazer Press published Eric Ebinger’s consolidated biography of a forgotten Ohio President Rutherford Birchard Hayes. Since 2016, Hayes has experienced both a positive and negative revival. The positive revival began with Delaware, Ohio (finally) honoring his birth with a statue in 2019, and ended with the yearlong celebration by his adopted hometown of Fremont during his 200th birthday in 2022. Unfortunately, the questions surrounding his election in 1876 were also resurrected, drawing unfounded comparisons to the election of 2020.

During this program, Ebinger will present the highlights of the Hayes Administration, including a thoughtful analysis of the 1876 election. Audience members will have the opportunity to hear both ends of historical interpretation, and ultimately draw their own conclusions.

Ebinger was raised in Fitchville, Ohio, in the southern end of The Firelands. He graduated from Penn State University with a degree in History and has established a career in Human Resources and Safety. In the last thirty-five years, he has traveled to over 400 presidential sites. His next book, a unique analysis of Abraham Lincoln, is planned to be released by the date of the program."
