Shannon Ditz, President of the Huron County Chapter of the National Ladies Homestead Gathering, will talk about modern homesteading and how her local Chapter works to empower women. If you’ve ever wanted to do more at home instead of going to the store, this is the topic for you!

You can homestead whether you live in a city apartment or off-grid and anywhere in between! Traditionally, homesteading and homemaking skills were passed down from generation to generation. Due to many families taking advantage of modern conveniences, younger generations are finding there is no one to pass this knowledge to them and homesteading groups are popping up all over the country to provide a sense of community and support. People of all ages are yearning to get back to the basics and learn how to do things for themselves. Come hear what homesteaders in our area are doing these days!

Shannon, who grew up on a farm in Southern Ohio, is also a Huron County Master Gardener and a Certified Square Foot Gardening Instructor.
